If you’ve ever been stunned with window coverings, put together the curtains and what to do, when what to pick, then stick with us. I am going to break down some of my top tips to choose curtains and make sure you stick till the end.
- i) Bring the curtain rod high
- ii) Type of Fabrics
- iii) Type of Room
- iv) Double Paneling
1. The first step in choosing your window coverings is you wanted to bring the window curtains as high up as conceivable, and I say this one since this is one of the most significant sorts of design mistakes.
I see out there are people who will put the rod in the casing or right about the housing. My rule of thumb always is to take the rod as high as you can. The reason is this will make your room feel higher and more open.
If you don’t want to go to the roof, then a happy medium is to go between the casing and ceiling.
2. While choosing your curtains and window coverings, you need to think about do you want a plain fabric or do you want a pattern. If you have a ton of design already in your space in your living room, I would say go with a plain curtain.
It’s going to bring in the other colors in the room and not create too much pattern.
On the flip side, though, if you don’t have a lot of designs, curtains are a great way to bring that pattern into your room.
If you have to say neutral rug and couch maybe a little bit of pattern on your pillows, if you add a pop of punch of design and color in your curtains, it can brighten up space.
3. You want to think about how you want the room to feel and particularly how the curtains feel. So what I mean by this is, are you going for kind of a linen look, or are you going something more luxurious like a velvet?
So whatever I say is take a look at the room you’re dealing with. If you’ve got a bedroom set and it’s more on the traditional fancy side.
You might want to go with something. That’s velvet or silk. On the flip side, if you’re in a family room, that’s casual. I wouldn’t say putting those materials in there be a great idea. I’d go for something like linen or cotton. So go with the look and the feel of the room in the material that you choose.
4. And this is a big one guys, this is kind of like my first tip of ringing the ceiling up the rod up, so you have the roof looks high.
Another tip for you is double up on the paneling. So a lot of times we see these little itty bitty battles on the side of windows and what we can do an excellent designer trick is to order two sets of panels and double it up, and it just makes your window look more prominent and it makes it look full and add so much to your room.
So I hope this has helped you and inspired you to maybe hang some curtains that you’ve been that left hanging around to your house still be overwhelming.
